UCLA ENGLISH MINOR

This program is designed for those students who wish to enhance their major program with the benefits of intensive study of English language and literatures, including a better understanding and appreciation of literatures in English and improvement in critical thinking, reading, and writing skills.

To enter the minor, students must be in good academic standing (2.0 grade-point average), have completed  English 10A, and (if not already completed), be enrolled in English 10B.  For further information, please contact the departmental Undergraduate Counseling Office in Humanities 158, 310.825.1389.

Preparation for the Minor:  3 courses (to be taken in sequence)*

English 10A __________    English 10B __________    English 10C __________

English Composition 3 is a prerequisite for English 4W/4HW and 100-122.  English 4W/4HW is a prerequisite for English 133-135.  English 10A and 10B are prerequisites for English 140A-157, and English 10A, 10B and 10C are prerequisites for English 160-M182C.

English 10A, 10B and 10C must be taken with a grade of C or better.  All minor Upper Division courses must be taken for a letter grade, with a grade-point average of 2.0 or better.  No more than 2 Upper Division courses for the minor may be taken during Summer Session or outside of UCLA.  Successful completion of the minor is indicated on the transcript and diploma.
