We will use the specific editions of the novels that are listed above.
Books may be ordered using the ISBN number, which uniquely identifies the
edition. You should read each novel's endnotes and other editorial
matter, including appendices. There may be occasional outside readings
assigned in class.
REQUIREMENTS
Two 6-page close-reading papers, due Tuesday, October 3 and Thursday,
November 9
One final 8 to 10-page paper, due Tuesday, December 5
One class presentation (pass/fail)
In addition:
- You are encouraged to meet with me to discuss your writing in individual
conferences.
- Lively class participation is expected. More than two absences will lower
your final grade.
- You must use your email account. We may have occasion to handle small
assignments or further discuss questions via email. If you need to
contact me, the best method is by email.
- Finally, a word about academic integrity: always cite any sources you have
used. Do not hesitate to ask me about the correct ways of doing so.
