Additional Information

My primary publishing, research, and teaching area is Shakespeare, and I am especially interested in the body as both a literal and figurative site of cultural, social, political, psychic, and religious exchange. My recently published book focuses on the intersection of race, gender, and sexuality in Shakespeare's works and in early modern culture more generally. That project is especially invested in how the body thematically and theatrically crystallizes these identities in England's emerging national and imperial culture. While I am inquisitive about the discursive body in all my areas of interest, my lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender work has been most particularly focused on the drag queen and on the relationship between death and queer subjectivity.
