Second Stage.

Ian studies nineteenth-century literature, focusing on the literary marketplace of late nineteenth-century Britain. He is particularly interested in questions of literary taste, in how notions of ‘good literature’ get transmitted and maintained, and in the interactions between ‘popular’ and ‘quality’ fictions. He graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1998 and has since worked in marketing and web design in London and Los Angeles.
