VOTING RIGHTS FOR ACADEMIC ADVANCEMENT Effective April 2003 DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH The chart below shows which faculty are allowed to vote on specified personnel actions. Merit increase reviews are delegated to the Personnel Committee. The Personnel Committee is an elected committee. The slate consists of all available faculty members willing to serve on the committee. Members are elected from the list by secret ballot and serve two-year terms. The Personnel Committee consists of three Full Professors and two Associate Professors, with the entire committee voting on Associate and Assistant Professor merit reviews, and only the Full Professors voting on Full Professor merit reviews. All actions requiring an ad hoc committee go to the faculty; this includes accelerated merits of two years or more, merits to Step VI, and all promotions. Lecturer appointments go through the Executive Committee. Voting rights are not extended to emeriti.
