Gabriela Jimenez

Hi and thanks for visiting our website on UCLA in the Sixties!

I am a first year at UCLA, and I am planning on pursuing the History/Art History major with a double major in French. I grew up in Santa Barbara, and later in Carpinteria where I attended Carpinteria High School (Class of 2004).

I chose to research the arts because that is what I am most interested in. I personally believe that the arts reveal the most about a culture than any other factor, therefore it is essential to recognize the arts' merits; it is also imperative that the arts continue to be taught and supported. In the age where technology has taken over much of our daily life, it is important to give individuals the opportunity to express themselves creatively. I am glad that I was assigned this project because I was able to not only research what I am interested in, but I was also able to incorporate what I learned about the arts at UCLA in a creative and expressive way.

With that in mind, I welcome you to our site--UCLA in Sixties: 1960-1961.

Amanda Schroeder

I am a first year at UCLA living in Dykstra Hall. I grew up in Westlake Village, and attended Thousand Oaks High School.

I was active in my high school’s Ambassador’s organization and Project Concern club. I was also President of our National Championship Dance Team.

Here at UCLA I have worked with REACHE tutoring through the VNLC, lead Housing Tours for incoming freshman, and joined the Student Coalition for Marriage Equality. For the 05-06 school year I will be Controller of Dykstra Hall.

I have an older brother who attended UCLA Law School, and a younger sister who will be coming to UCLA next fall.

If you would like to contact me, please feel free to e-mail me at aschroe@ucla.edu.
